Home of the East Kent Mavericks American Football Teams.

Formed in 2006 the Mavericks organisation has rapidly become recognised as one of the premier sports programmes in the area. Offering an oppertunity for adults and youths to enjoy American Football and Cheerleading.

Now with over 100 members The Mavericks programme consist of adult (18+), Youth (16-18) and Junior (14-16) as well as non contact flag American football and a schools coaching scheme.

The team trains every Sunday at Chaucer School in Canterbury and welcome new members. American football is suitable for people of all sizes and level of athletic ability. New players, coaches and support staff are made very welcome and provided with the training and support needed to excel.

Deal open day 5 October 2008
The East Kent Mavericks, Canterbury’s American Football team, will be holding an open day at Deal Rugby club on Sunday 5 October at 12pm for potential new players to come and try American football.  Anyone wanting to try the sport will need to be aged 14 or over and bring football boots and suitable sports cloths.  All shapes and sizes will be welcomed and all equipment will be available. 



Mavericks vs Cobras
The East Kent Mavericks entered their last game of the regular season knowing they had to achieve something no other team has been able to do – beat the seemingly invincible London Cobras - to have any chance of reaching the Division two play-offs. With the London Cobras boasting several ex-professional players from NFL Europe and players who play on training squads for actual NFL teams, it was always going to be an uphill struggle.
Liftathon raises cash for club and charity

The equivalent of 29 elephants, or 17 double-decker buses, was lifted by members of Canterbury’s local American football team, the East Kent Mavericks, as part of a sponsored ‘lift-a-thon’ on Saturday at Kingsmead Leisure centre.  The event was closely monitored by the helpful members of staff in the fitness centre and was attended by the Lord Mayor and her family.
